Beau Rivage Resort & Casino employees pledged $159,000 this year to MGM Resorts Foundation. They spent Wednesday distributing checks to three of the six area charities that received grants, meeting volunteers and staff and seeing their dollars at work.
The money was raised through cash and payroll donations and fundraising events and now $53,900 will be distributed to eight nonprofits that applied for community grants through the employee-driven Community Grants Council.
A grant for $10,000 went to Bay Area Food Bank Backpack Program, $5,000 went to Catholic Social Services' Morning Star Program, $10,000 to de l'Epée Deaf Center for Children in a Deaf World, $10,000 to Gulf Coast Women's Shelter Outreach Prevention/Education Program, $10,000 to Hancock County Food Pantry and $7,119 to Mississippi Council on Economic Education Quality Instruction for grades K-12.
MGM Resorts International employees have pledged more than $6 million this year to the MGM Resorts Foundation.
