There’s that time in between New Year’s Day and the beginning of Carnival for which many foodies long. And, no, it’s not the return of the McRib or the Unicorn Frapp, but something that has been around for about 100 years.
Yes, the beginning of a new year means that Girl Scout Cookies are available for purchase. This year’s batch features standards such as Thin Mints, Caramel Delights/ Samoas, Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs, Shortbread, Toffee-tastic, Savannah Smiles, Thanks-A-Lot, gluten-free Trios and Peanut butter Sandwich/Dos-si-dos.
Also returning is two types of Girl Scout S’Mores. One is a chocolate-covered graham concoction baked by ABC Bakers and a s’mores sandwich with chocolate and marshmallow creme baked by Little Brownie Bakers. S’Mores debuted in 2017 and became the “most popular flavor in Girl Scout Cookies history,” according to GirlScouts.org.
According to mentalfloss.com, discontinued cookie flavors include Van’Chos, a creme sandwich assortment; Godlen Yangles, a cheddar cheese cracker; Praline Royals and the iced-oatmeal Snaps.
The cookies go on sale in South Mississippi on Saturday.
