Biloxi Council will discuss utility rate hikes at two meetings Tuesday
The Biloxi City Council will meet twice Tuesday to discuss utility rates and other issues.
A workshop at 10:30 a.m. will address an increase in water, sewer and garbage rates. The council could vote on those at the 1:30 p.m. regular meeting.
Under the proposal, the city's monthly $10 garbage fee, which falls short of covering the expense of garbage collection, will increase to $13 a month in April, to $15 a month in April 2017 and to $16 a month in April 2018 to help cover increased landfill costs.
Also on the agenda is creating a seven-member tree committee and regulation of taxis and other vehicles for hire.
