Mississippi Highway Patrol holiday traffic campaign begins Wednesday
The Mississippi Highway Patrol holiday traffic safety campaign begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday and runs through midnight Sunday. State troopers will have heavy patrols on interstates and highways over the Thanksgiving weekend, looking for drivers who are careless, reckless, speeding or distracted, MHP Capt. Johnny Poulos said. Safety checkpoints are planned.
Over the same holiday last year, state troopers investigated 179 crashes statewide including crashes that killed three people and injured 56 others. They also made 150 DUI arrests.
