League of Distinguished Gentlemen holds fall induction

The fall induction of the League of Distinguished Gentlemen, an affiliate of Gulf Coast Outreach and Leadership, was held at the Isiah Fredericks Center in Gulfport. The league program is designed for seventh- to 12th-graders who attend school in Hancock, Stone, Harrison or Jackson county. The league's goal is to develop the potential and individuality of young males of all colors, involving them in activities to increase their mastery in arts and core academic areas. The members work with several goal-oriented mentors to develop a strong self-image and experiences to benefit their lives in the future. The program uses curriculum focused on diversity and builds positive relationships with teachers, parents and law enforcement officers. Activities include full-time mentoring, community service, seminars, college tours and more. The league was founded in 2014 and a spring information meeting will be held in January.
