Woman disrupts Barbour during oil spill commission meeting

The Governor's Mississippi Gulf of Mexico Commission was interrupted briefly this afternoon by a local woman who called the commission "bogus" because no commercial fishermen or conservationists were invited to join the board.

Linda St. Martin interrupted Gov. Haley Barbour's remarks before a packed room on the seventh floor when he was talking to the commission about what their mission would be, calling for fishermen and conservationists to be included.

Barbour answered her questions. Several officers with the Mississippi Highway Patrol who were assigned to protect the governor began approaching St. Martin, but Barbour waved them off while he listened to her and answered her questions.

He also told some fishermen in the audience that they would have an opportunity to speak. Then he resumed his remarks to the commission.

The meeting is continuing at the Hancock Bank building in downtown Gulfport.
