Tupelo man charged with breaking into a car

TUPELO – The Tupelo Police Department has charged a man with car burglary after he allegedly broke into a car outside a North Gloster Street restaurant.
Police responded to the Lost Pizza Company June 23 in reference to burglary of a vehicle. The victim told officers that property was missing from their vehicle. A witness was able to provide a physical description of the suspect. A short time later, officers were able to locate the suspect nearby and he was arrested on multiple misdemeanor drug and paraphernalia charges.
After further investigation, Javaun O'Neal Wells, 38, of Kimbrough Avenue, Tupelo, was charged June 25 with one count of burglary of a vehicle. During his initial appearance, Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Harry Sumner set bond at $10,000. A hold was also placed on Wells by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Wells is currently under indictment for car burglary as a habitual criminal. According to the indictment, he has previously been convicted of car burglary and grand larceny.
