The Gulfport Police Department arrested two teenagers wanted for a carjacking that occurred last week.

Officers took the first suspect in custody on Tuesday. Zyion Bell, 16, was charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The second suspect was arrested Friday. Michael Carleon Casey, 17, was also charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The Gulfport Police Department reported they were looking for two males allegedly involved in an attempted armed robbery and ensuing shooting that left one victim hospitalized.

The aggravated assault and carjacking incident occurred around South Street and East Avenue during the early morning hours of Feb. 15.

Police originally identified Keston Kente Vaughns, 16, as a suspect, but on Friday said he is no longer a suspect in this case. Detectives are attempting to contact him and his family, police said in a press release.

Investigators say the victim picked up two unidentified men after they asked for a ride. The suspects then brandished weapons and attempted to rob the victim.

The victim escaped the vehicle and was subsequently shot by both suspects. The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s car.

The victim was transported to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Gulfport Police Department at 228-868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898.
