Sugar Bowl fans can ride in from South Mississippi

Mississippi Hospitality and Lodging Association and Mississippi Gulf Coast Hotel Reservations are offering Sugar Bowl hotel and bus-transportation packages from South Mississippi to the Super Bowl in New Orleans.

Buses will begin picking up passengers from various Coast locations at 9 a.m. Jan. 1. Guests will be able to sightsee in the French Quarter for a few hours, then will be picked up at 3 p.m. and taken to the Superdome and Champion Square.

Depending on demand, buses also could depart South Mississippi in the afternoon and go directly to the Superdome, as was done in 2014.

The return ride to the Coast will be about 30 minutes after the game ends.

Those who book rooms directly with the hotel can still book round-trip bus transportation between South Mississippi and New Orleans for $50 per person.

Room and travel packages are being offered for Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 and 2 and minimum stay requirements may apply.
