Booking a Norwegian cruise isn't as straightforward as just choosing dates and a cabin. Missing certain details or windows can mean paying significantly more or missing out on experiences entirely.

TravelHost's Come Cruise With Me Editor in Chief Daniel Kline and his travel agent partner, Postcard Travel Planning's Dennis Post, recently identified three common booking mistakes that can cost cruisers hundreds of dollars while sailing aboard Norwegian Prima in the video below.

Dan Kline: Hey there cruisers. Dan and Dennis your travel hosts. We're talking three mistakes you could make when booking on Norwegian Cruise Line. One of the really big ones is not planning well ahead. So on this ship, we're on the Norwegian Prima. They have what's called the Vibe Beach Club. That's a private couple of hot tubs, a bar and nice seating outside. That sells out in months, so it's a little expensive.

It was 300 plus dollars on this ship, but if you want that private area, a lot of Norwegian ships are adding this, and they don't have a private adult pool. So if you want that quiet Oasis book ahead. Dennis, what's another mistake you can make on Norwegian?

Dennis Post: Not getting the new upgraded package for drinks, Wi-Fi. There's so many things included in it, like Starbucks.

Kline: For most People, it's worth it because your gratuities are $20 a day.

Your Starbucks 1 or 2 is, you know, eight bucks apiece. It adds up pretty quickly and becomes one of those things where even though it seems expensive, you'd actually be spending that money. It gets you half off specialty dining. I have a casino room, so I didn't get any free specialty dining, so that saved me like $30 every night.

So it's a real value. The last mistake you can make is not looking into solo cabins.

Post: Yeah.

Kline: Norwegian has solo cabins. On this ship, no different than a regular cabin. My mother's in one, my mother in law's in one. They're full size cabins. On other ships they can be a little small, but if you're by yourself, there is no single supplement.

So you might be paying five, six, even $1,000 less. And there's a singles lounge so you can meet other solo travelers

Post: Yeah.

Kline: But this is again where a good travel agent comes in. There are times where a double occupancy room can be cheaper for one person than a solo cabin.

Post: Yes. That is true.

Kline: So you want to make sure you're booked in the room that makes sense for you. I am Dan, he is Dennis. This was three mistakes you can make on a Norwegian cruise. Come cruise with us soon.
