2 South MS cities make USA Today’s list of 10 best coastal small towns in America
Two MS Coast cities received acclaim this week when they were selected as two of the 10 best small coastal cities in the U.S.
Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis were ranked Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, in the Best Coastal Small Town category of USA Today’s 10 Best Reader’s Choice Awards for 2021, outranking other locations such as Nags Head, North Carolina, Del Mar, California and Beaufort, South Carolina, which is near Hilton Head Island.
To get the award, each city had to have a population of less than 25,000 and offer, “uncrowded, unpretentious, and affordable seaside fun in small packages.”
The city of Bucksport, Maine claimed the title as the Best Coastal Small Town, offering lots of recreation opportunities, craft breweries and a history museum, according to 10 Best’s website.
10 Best highlighted the store-lined Main Streets that both Ocean Springs and Bay St. Louis offer as well as the recreation opportunities in each. Bay St. Louis was praised for its seafood restaurants and dining options.
According to USA Today’s 10 Best website, all nominees for each Reader’s Choice award are chosen by a panel of experts and then voted on by readers.
