Coast Cooking

Oh the places we can go . . . for great food on the Coast

This week I’m going to do something a little different.

I’m going to blog about food that I have experienced on the Coast within the last few weeks or so.

I hope to make the point that we have an incredible array of food options.

Drive to many towns in Mississippi, and other than chains, you may have only a restaurant or two from which to choose.

The Gulf Coast has hundreds in categories including Vietnamese, fine dining, Greek and Honduran.

Few places in Mississippi have anything to compare to the choices we have.

Having piqued your interest in the exotic, I am going to start with one of my favorites, a most mundane food, the simple hot dog.

My go-to dog places are the just-opened Hot Diggity Dog in Ocean Springs, where the chili cheese dog reigns supreme and the 5 Guys pile-on-everything in the house hot dog. No, 5 Guys doesn’t have a hot dog by that name on the menu, but they sure do have a ton of garnishes from which to choose.

I know there are a few other places that serve good hot dogs, so what’s your favorite?
