This week this blog will be going out to lunch.

There are dozens of great places on the Coast for a good lunch with friends, and it’s hard to pick just five to suggest. Perhaps the best way to start is to pick a category, and no other category comes to mind faster than the bevy of raised beach-side places that are springing up like the proverbial mushroom.

I can’t think of one that I haven’t been to, from the Blind Tiger in Bay St Louis, to the Biloxi Lugger on Biloxi’s Point Cadet, and I have had delicious, innovative food at every one.

Going back over the hundreds of photos I have taken at these places, the shrimp tacos, with a side of black beans I had at Baja Beach stands out. The beans give it a hint of Cuban, the salsa of fresh tomato and onion was just right and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Two shrimp tacos, the beans, and a cold beer is just about as good as lunch can get.

Make your own shrimp tacos with highly seasoned and quickly sautéed shrimp, soft tortillas, tomato, onion and shredded lettuce, hot sauce and a little mayonnaise if you like. What could be better?

If you haven’t been to the Coast’s mecca of beach side restaurants, get out there and try them all.
