I’m a sandwich fanatic

I am a bit of a nut when it comes to sandwiches; the potential is so vast to put so many good things together.

The Southern classic pimento and cheese can be made simple or complex (why not make it with Gruyere, the best melting cheese in the world?).

A pb&j can be sensational.

I take the art of the cheese burger very seriously and have a file of nothing but images of the best ones I've seen.

My friend Tom Johnson, who owns Tom's on Main in Yazoo City, may have introduced me to the best sandwich in the international lexicon.

The civito is from Uruguay  and is a fantastic combination of steak, mozzarella, tomato, olives, hardboiled egg, ham and bacon.

It may sound like a mishmash, but it sure is good. I wish someone around here would start making them.
