Bay St. Louis’ Cannella makes a great cannoli

There are lots of good Italian places on the Coast, but if you want a stunningly good espresso and cannoli, there is just one place to go, at least in my humble opinion.

A while back I was sitting in Cannella, 1113 U.S. 90, Bay St. Louis, and a couple from New Orleans came in. The man ordered a cannoli, took a bit, put it down, leapt out of his chair and embraced the hostess, saying “This is the most delicious thing I have ever put in my mouth.”

Enough said.

As for the espresso, owner Roberto Zito calls it his regimental coffee, meaning it meets the standard of espresso that the regiment he was in in the Italian army demanded. It is super sweet and super strong. I had two once, and thought my head was going to spin off.
