This week, I’m blogging about rice. I always use a rice cooker to make rice, but making it on the stovetop is just as good.
I once tried a recipe that called for soaking a large towel in water, filling it with raw rice, bundling it up and placing it in a hot oven. It worked well, but was hardly worth the extra effort.
One of my favorite combinations is smoked sausage and steamed rice. You can add sautéed onions, bell pepper and a little garlic if you like, but the sausage has got to be Conecuh Sausage, made in Alabama. Make sure to sauté the sausage until it is well-browned. This is a great recipe when something hearty and quick is required.
