BILOXI -- A train hit and killed a pedestrian on the CSX tracks late Saturday evening.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove identified the victim as 51-year-old Calvin Pritchett of Biloxi.
Biloxi police responded about 8:05 p.m. to a medical emergency near the Calliavet Street crossing in downtown Biloxi. Callers reported a person, later identified as Pritchett, was found on the south side of the tracks suffering from life-threatening injuries, Sgt. O'Neal Adams said.
"Initial investigation indicates the victim was attempting to cross the tracks on foot," Adams said.
EMT units with American Medical Response took Pritchett to Merit Health hospital in Biloxi where he was pronounced dead at 8:48 p.m., Hargrove said.
The incident remains under investigation.
