Sun Herald wins nine awards

HATTIESBURG -- The Sun Herald picked up nine awards in this year's Louisiana-Mississippi Associated Press Media Editors contest.

Winners were announced Saturday in Hattiesburg.

The competition recognizes outstanding performance in journalism. The Sun Herald was in the same division as, among others, the Jackson Clarion-Ledger and the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Best blog: Second place to Justin Mitchell for "Throwing Shade"

Reporter Wesley Muller won the Margaret Dixon Freedom of Information Award for "Federal Probe into Bay St. Louis Finances."
