Holden McHugh got the win as Gulfport pounded Jim Hill 18-1 in round one of the Class 6A state baseball playoffs on Saturday. Dillon Brown, Blake Johnson, Luke Dimetreadas and Patrick Nelms each had two RBI for Gulfport, who meets Brandon in round two.
Bay High 5, Columbia 2: Gage Kiser (7-2) got the win as the Tigers swept Columbia, striking out five. Cade Compretta had two hits for the Tigers, who will face Newton County in the second round next week.
West Jones 8, Stone 2: The Mustangs forced a decisive third game in their 5A first-round series on Saturday. Mason Hunt and Preston Stringer each had two hits and an RBI. Truitt Smith with two singles. West Jones hosts Stone at 7 p.m. Monday.
Long Beach 8, Natchez 2: Josh Borzik got the win, allowing only three hits and struck out 11 as the Bearcats swept their 5A playoff series and will face Hattiesburg in the second round next week. Josh Borzik got the win, allowing only three hits and struck out 10. Cade Crosby and Clayton Maxwell each had two hits, Crosby and Charlie Wescovich each had two RBI.
St Patrick 12, Franklin County 9: Peter Holland was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts, also with two hits and three RBI as the Fighting Irish won their 3A playoff opener. Chet Rodrigue had two hits with three RBI, Trace Palazzo added two hits and pair of RBI.
East Central 11, Purvis 0: The Hornets run-ruled Purvis to force a third game on Monday. Colin Danley struck out nine to get the win. Will Garriga had two hits and three RBI. Jacob Vick had two hits.
St. Stanislaus 2, FCAHS 1: Levi Knight struck out six and had the game-winning RBI single in the seventh as the Rockachaws forced a third deciding game at 6 p.m. Monday. Luke Bradley also had an RBI.
Biloxi 3, Pearl 0: The Indians forced a decisive third game on Monday at Pearl.
PRC sweeps:The Blue Devils advanced to the second round of the 5A playoffs, beating Wayne County 7-2 and 3-2 to sweep their opening-round series.
Ocean Springs 4, Oak Grove 3: The Greyhounds forced a decisive third game on Monday at Oak Grove, winning in eight innings.
Long Beach 24, Natchez 3: Long Beach recorded 17 hits and Justin Lockey earned the win in the Class 5A first-round matchup on Friday. Tyler Allen hit a grand slam.

FCAHS 4, St. Stanislaus 2: Despite four hits from Luke Bradley and Brendan Logan's two, the Rockachaws dropped their playoff series opener on Friday. Luke Bradley struck out six. Ryan Pitalo took the loss.
Oak Grove 7, Ocean Springs 1: Drew Boyd struck out 15 batters for the Warriors in game one of their 6A playoff series on Friday.
Stone 5, West Jones 2: Tristan parker got the win, Hunter Clark with the save for the Tomcats on Friday. Hayden Harrell hit a homer, Nathan Hunt added two RBI.

Picayune 14 West Jones 4. Elizabeth Taggard (5-6) gets the win on Saturday, as Picayune (15-10) advances to a second-round showdown against West Harrison. Elizabeth Taggard had three hits, Megan Dudenhefer and Alyssa Pinero each with two.
Hancock advances: The Lady Hawks beat Pearl 4-3, 0-2 and 5-0 in their 6A playoff series on Saturday. In the 4-3 win, Rylee Swilley struck out eight. Katelen McGowan and Ana Peterson each had RBI. Swilley struck out 10 in the 2-0 loss. Brooke Fagan with two hits. Swilley got the win in the 5-0 victory in game three. Swilley had two hits and three RBI. Lexi Turner added two hits and an RBI. The Lady Hawks will host St. Martin in game one of the 6A series on Tuesday.
George County sweeps: The Lady Rebels swept Petal 4-2 and 8-1 in their 6A playoff series on Saturday.
Moss Point sweeps: The Lady Tigers beat Richland 2-1 and 13-12 in their 4A playoff series on Saturday. Moss Point will meet Poplarville in the second round on Tuesday.
Picayune 1, West Jones 0: Elizabeth Taggard scored the game's lone run on a single by pitcher Megan Dudenhefer on Friday. Lexie Picou led the Lady Tide (14-10) with two hits. Dudenhefer (9-4) struck out 11 against three hits.
East Central 16 Florence 3: Madie Sparks (10-2) tossed a two-hitter as the Lady Hornets won their 4A state playoff series opener on Friday. Madison Wall had 4 hits, including a homer.
Ocean Springs sweeps: The Lady Greyhounds swept Meridian 17-2 and 7-4 in their 6A series opener on Friday.
Biloxi wins Region 4-6A track title: The Indians held off Gulfport and Ocean Springs at George County. The Indians' 800-meter relay team of Xavier Lewis, Tyler Varnado, Zach Brackett and Fred Campbell broke their own school record with a winning time of 1:29.74. Other First Place Finishers were:X avier Lewis (300 Hurdles, 40.08), 3,200 meter Relay Team: (Jimmy Erwin, Stephen Jones, Isaac Keown & Jeff Blackston, 8:42.55), Tyler Varnado (Long Jump 22-01), C.J Bridges & Asonti Hall Tied for First (Triple Jump 42'5.5).
