HANCOCK COUNTY -- Deputies arrested a Kiln man last week they said was sending nude selfies to a teenage girl.
Timothy Louis Moore II, 22, faces a charge of using a computer to lure a child for sexual purposes.
Waveland Police Chief David Allen said a Diamondhead woman called the Hancock County Sheriff's Office after finding the photos on her 14-year-old daughter's cellphone.
Deputies requested Allen's assistance with the case because of his expertise with cyber-crimes and because they initially believed Moore was living in Waveland.
Allen said Moore apparently sent the selfies to the girl through the mobile messaging app Kik.
He sent the photos and asked the girl to reply with photos of her own, which she almost did, Allen said.
"Parents really need to start checking their kids' cellphones and seeing what their kids are doing," the police chief said. "We see cases like this every day."
The selfies were sent in mid-December, and it took several months for authorities to identify and find Moore.
Officers seized cellphones and computer equipment at his Kiln residence.
Moore was arrested April 1 and booked at the Hancock County Jail. He was released the following day after posting a $5,000 bond.
