BILOXI -- Gulf Coast Symphony will present "Musical Tales" at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Saenger Theatre.
"We'll be telling stories with music, ranging from classic Shakespeare ('Romeo and Juliet'), to modern myths ('Star Wars')," said Peter Rubardt, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra's conductor and music director. "Along the way, we'll visit some opera (the famous 'William Tell Overture'), some evocative French poetry (featuring music of Debussy) and a raucous Spanish party."
General admission ticket run from $30 to $45 and are available at the door, by phone or at gulfcoastsym phony.net. Students and military may buy discounted tickets for $15 with proper identification.
Rubardt said this wide-ranging and easy-to-listen-to program is perfect for both symphony newcomers and longtime concertgoers.

For those unable to attend the Saturday-evening concert, the symphony offers "Finishing Touches," a full program rehearsal, at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Tickets for this performance are $10.
Rubardt will offer a free "Words on Music" session -- a relaxed hour of concert information and personal musical insights at 11:30 a.m. today at the Great Southern Club atop Hancock Bank in downtown Gulfport. The session is casual dress and lunch is available for purchase at the Great Southern Club.
