BILOXI -- The arson trial of a woman accused of setting fire to a D'Iberville apartment complex is set to start March 15.

Circuit Judge Chris Schmidt is scheduled to hear pretrial motions Tuesday in the case against Krystal Gonzalez, 27. The case will be tried at the Harrison County Courthouse in Biloxi.

Gonzalez is charged with first-degree arson for a fire that destroyed 20 units at Arbor View Apartments, displacing 40 residents on Mardi Gras night in 2014.

Gonzalez claims the fire happened after she left a candle burning, according to previous court testimony.

D'Iberville police investigators claim Gonzalez intentionally set the fire to burn her ex-boyfriend's belongings.

Gonzalez is free on a $200,000 bond.
