BILOXI - Biloxi boys basketball coach Seber Windham didn't describe the Indians performance as pretty on Friday night but it was a win nevertheless.

Biloxi rallied from a cold-shooting first half to upend Moss Point 67-53 behind a gritty second-half defensive performance on Friday in the Jackie Laird Christmas Classic.

Earlier in the tournament, D'Iberville beat Harrison Central 85-83 and Mobile Murphy routed Oak Grove 61-35.

The tournament continues Saturday with Harrison Central-Murphy at 1 p.m., Oak Grove-Moss Point at 2:30 p.m. and Biloxi-D'Iberville at 4 p.m.

Fred Ramsey-Thompson scored 20 points, and hit 9 of 12 free-throw attempts during the foul-fest for Biloxi (8-3).

"It's hard to believe we could shoot under 50 percent as a team and still win by double digits,'' Windham said. "We have to do better. We have to grow up. I understand we are growing as a team but the process needs to speed up.

"We talked about it at halftime. We were not shooting the ball well. We're not making free throws. The only way we were going to win the game was to scramble on defense, play hard and try to chip back into the game. At one point, we made seven straight stops to get back in the game.''

Jaylon Chiles added 12 points for Biloxi, which trailed 14-4 after one quarter and 28-22 at halftime.

Biloxi scrambled to its first lead of the game toward the end of the third quarter - 43-42 - as Jared Betts scored seven straight points to erase a 42-36 deficit.

D.Q. Proby's driving basket with 6:24 left in the game gave Biloxi a 45-43 lead and the Indians never trailed after that.

Senior Antwain Lucky paced Moss Point (4-5) with 15 points. Marcus Brown chipped in 10 points, including two 3-pointers.

Biloxi held Moss Point to eight field goals in the second half - including four 3 pointers. Biloxi hit 24 of 40 free-throw attempts.
