Saucier woman dies in accident during rain

A Saucier woman died Sunday when the pickup she was driving ran off the road and struck a utility pole and a tree.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said Mary Waltman, 72, of Saucier, died from blunt force trauma.

The call came in at 12:57 p.m. of an accident with injuries.

Hargrove said Waltman, who was driving a 2001 Ford pickup, failed to negotiate a curve on Saucier Lizana Road during the rain.

She was wearing a seatbelt, he said.
