In honor of Pope Francis' visit to the United States, the students of Sacred Heart Elementary in D'Iberville celebrated with a parade. The students made and carried banners, pictures of Pope Francis, Catholic flags and peace doves and wore the ceremonial headdress of the Pope. Also, the students followed Pope Francis' request to help the poor by participating in the St. Vincent de Paul Annual Friends of the Poor Walk. The students walked and collected pledges, raising $300. Members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church's St. Vincent de Paul Society joined the Pre K-4 students on their walk around the school.
