Looking for local cuisine at training camp

Saints and Sushi?

No sir! Not in The Mountain State.

This wasn't the food recommendation I expected on my first day in West Virginia for Saints training camp.

The second recommendation? BBQ... Oh, well, maybe ...

Back to sushi: I like snow crab rolls as much as the next foodie. But I say "No" to sushi in Lewisburg, W.Va. Gimme a taste of local cuisine. Pepperoni rolls, slaw dogs, wild game -- OK, maybe two out of three. I'm a little worried. placed West Virginia No. 45 on its list of states ranked by food. The comment: "Does moonshine count as food? No? Oh."

The only states ranked worse: Delaware (No. 46), Iowa (No. 47), Utah (No. 48), North Dakota (No. 49) and South Dakota (No. 50). Oh, bother ...

Anyway, I'm looking forward to players reporting tomorrow at The Greenbrier in nearby White Sulphur Springs. General manager Mickey Loomis and coach Sean Payton are scheduled to talk to the media Thursday evening, with a lineup of players available after Friday's practice. On-field workouts start Friday with a non-padded practice session from 8:50-11:40 a.m. A walk-through will take place 4:30–5:30 p.m. All practices are open to the public.

First chance to shine for rookie WR Brandin Cooks, OLB Victor Butler (injured all of 2013)... Last chance to shine for CB Champ Bailey, WR Marques Colston...
