A morning drive around Pascagoula led me to a century plant in bloom.
Actually, I was sent there by Susan Kendrick at Crazy B's Coffee and Confections on Market Street when I stopped in for an iced mocha and cream cheese croissant.
She told me she'd been watching a century plant bloom in a vacant lot at the corner of King Avenue and Belair Street. So I went to check it out. The plant was blooming, and a little research told me they bloom after about 10 to 15 years. The stalk of a century plant, also known as Agave Americana, can grow up to 20 feet tall.
