Within two weeks, the Old Mobile Highway bridge will close for up to three months while infrastructure enhancements are made on the highway, between 14th and Chicot streets, according to Pascagoula city officials.
All businesses along Old Mobile Highway will remain accessible, with residential access to remain open during the project.
The city contracted with Superior Asphalt to make the infrastructure improvements using grant funding through the Mississippi Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration.
A detour will be in place for those who routinely use the Old Mobile Highway bridge.
City leaders are encouraging drivers to remain cautious around the construction site.
