Mayor George Schloegel said this afternoon that the city has not determined the amount of money it will seek from a BP oil spill fund set up for Mississippi localities.
Gulfport has hired an expert in disaster response, Robert Chambers, to advise the city. City Spokesman Ryan LaFontaine said the city also is developing a comprehensive oil spill response plan. The $25 million BP fund was set up to cover expenses for responding to the spill.
Schloegel said the city will release details about its funding request as soon as they are available. Hopefully, he will release a copy of the city's comprehensive response plan. If so, I will post it at sunherald.com
