According to an article in today's New York Times, a new shape of milk jug will be stocked on Wal-Mart shelves, in an effort to reduce the costs of shipping and the environmental impact. Go to the link for the full story and an infographic explaining the differences between the two shapes.
While the new shape may be good for stores, the article reports it's the consumer who may experience the bad. Apparently, it's not as easy to pour from the upward-facing spout, and milk-pouring demonstrations -- yes, milk-pouring demonstrations -- have been offered at some Sam's Clubs.
But as expected, don't look for these new jugs to appear on the Coast anytime soon. Waveland Wal-Mart store manager Ray Cox hadn't heard about the change yet, though he said the idea sounded "cool."
