JACKSON COUNTY  - Army National Guard troops are headed now to rescue a few people standing on top of their vehicle at the Miss. 63 boat launch in the Moss Point city limits.

Jackson County Civil Defense Director Butch Loper said the people tried to drive a vehicle in the flooded area and their vehicle is now submerged. National Guard troops are headed there now to bring them to safety.

A curfew is currently in effect, Loper said, and “We will start arresting people we find doing silly things. We don’t need the sightseers out there.”

Meanwhile, a tornado has touched down on Jim Ramsey Road in Vancleave, destroying a shed and causing minor damage to a home.

In addition, Loper said, there have been unconfirmed reports of a home flooding in Windsor Park near Gulf Hills in St. Martin as well as several condominiums flooding on Front Beach in Ocean Springs.
