The parents of George County football star Billey Joe Johnson and 11 other family members met Monday with the District Attorney and came away “well satisfied” with the man who is heading the investigation into their son's death, a spokesman for the family said.
The lead investigator is Joel Wallace with the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Still, the NAACP said it will pay for an independent autopsy on Johnson this week, even though the results still aren't in on the state autopsy.
Also on Monday, District Attorney Tony Lawrence released the official police report that a George County deputy filed describing what happened early Dec. 8 when he pulled over Johnson in Lucedale.
