A Gulfport man and a Vancleave woman have been identified as the two who died after a roll-over crash ejected them and an Alabama man on the CSX Bridge on Bienville Boulevard, police say.

Jonathan Fruth, 34, and Rachel Byrd, 24, died at area hospitals after the early-morning crash Thursday, Police Capt. William Jackson said. Bienville Boulevard also is known as U.S. 90.

Martin Helton, 58, of Gulf Shores, Ala., is under intensive care at the University of South Alabama Hospital in Mobile, Ala., Jackson said.

It’s unclear who was driving but the three were unrestrained and thrown from the truck, he said.

Accident reconstruction shows the Ford F-250 was westbound about 2:30 a.m. Thursday and apparently flipped several times.

The truck crashed on the small bridge just before the Biloxi Bay Bridge that connects Biloxi to Ocean Springs, near McElroy’s on the Bayou.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department assisted police in emergency response.

Westbound lanes of the roadway were shut down for several hours while police documented evidence and cleared the highway for travel.

Jackson said more details will be released later.
