Inside the Giudice Family's Legal Troubles: Milania's Arrest and More

The Giudice family has had their share of legal troubles through the years.

In June 2026, Milana Giudice - the third-eldest daughter of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice and her ex-husband, Joe Giudice - made headlines for her arrest for assault.

The arrest came years after Teresa and Joe, who also share daughters Gia, Gabriella and Audriana, both served prison time for fraud.

Joe Giudice and Teresa Giudice's Fraud Case

In July 2013, a federal grand jury indicted Teresa and Joe on 41 counts of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, and bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. The former couple, who divorced in 2020, were accused of submitting fraudulent mortgage and loan applications and failing to disclose income after they filed for bankruptcy in 2009.

Though Teresa and Joe initially pleaded not guilty, they ultimately took plea deals in March 2014. Teresa pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bankruptcy fraud, and making false statements and was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison. She served approximately 11 out of 15 months from January to December 2015.

Joe, meanwhile, pleaded guilty to mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud, as well as failure to file tax returns. He completed his 41-month prison sentence in March 2019 and was subsequently deported to his native Italy.

Teresa Giudice and Luis Ruelas' Alleged Tax Issues

In March 2025, it was reported that Teresa and her second husband, Luis "Louie" Ruelas, whom she married in 2022, had received more than $3 million in tax liens. According to court documents obtained by People at the time, Teresa owes $303,889.20, while Louie owes nearly $2.6 million. The publication noted that Louie was issued a tax lien for $163,523.94 in December 2024.

Neither Teresa nor Louie have publicly commented on the claims, although Gia shared an update on her mom and stepfather shortly after the reports.

"My mom has everything under control, and there's nothing to worry about," she said on a March 2025 episode of her "Casual Chaos" podcast. "My stepdad, Luis, is the most amazing stepfather. He treats my sisters and I like we are his own. He is also working on getting everything resolved as well. But there's nothing to worry about. Everything's going to be fine. But thank you for your concern."

Milana Giudice's Arrest

Us Weekly confirmed in June 2026 that Milania was arrested the previous month for assault after a domestic violence incident. She was taken into custody by Montville Township police.

"On May 14, 2026, the Montville Township Police Department received a report of a dispute at a residence in town. The investigation resulted in Milania Giudice being charged on a summons complaint with one count of Simple Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C: 12-1a(1) a Disorderly Persons Offense," a statement from Chief Andrew Caggiano, obtained by Us, read. "She was released pending her next court appearance. A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until she has been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."

A hearing was held on May 19, but a plea was not entered.
