Eva Mendes Says Ryan Gosling Dates Include 'All the Unmentionables'

Eva Mendes is sharing rare insight into her date nights with Ryan Gosling.

"Yeah, we do have date nights regularly," Mendes, 52, told People in an interview published on Friday, April 17, adding that their dates include "all the unmentionables."

"I don't know what else to say. We like movies, and we like going to the movies, so we try to keep that alive," she continued.

Mendes added that fans are "usually cool" when they're spotted out together.

"If you want attention, you go to certain places, and if you don't, you know where to go. We do the latter," she noted.

Mendes and Gosling, 45, met while filming The Place Beyond the Pines in August 2011. The two were spotted together at Disneyland the following month, sparking romance rumors. Mendes and Gosling later spent Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve together, months before their red carpet debut in September 2012.

Mendes and Gosling went on to welcome their first child, daughter Esmeralda, in September 2014, followed by daughter Amada in April 2016.

The Lost River costars have kept their relationship and their family fairly private over the years, with Mendes explaining the decision in a since-deleted Instagram post in 2020.

"I have always had a clear boundary when it comes to my man and my kids. I'll talk about them of course, with limits, but I won't post pictures of our daily life," she wrote at the time. "Since my children are still so little and don't understand what posting their image really means, I don't have their consent. And I won't post their image until they're old enough to give me consent."

Mendes reiterated her thoughts in 2021 while responding to a fan who asked to see more photos of Gosling on her Instagram page.

"As far as Ryan, I'll only post [flashbacks] of things that are already ‘out there' (like pics from movies we did or stuff like that). My man and my kids are private. That's important to me," she wrote.

Gosling has also opened up about his relationship with Mendes on rare occasions.

"When you asked me about Eva and kids, I think I said, ‘I didn't think about kids until she told me she was pregnant.' That's not really true," he said in his 2023 GQ cover story. "I didn't want to overshare, but now I also don't want to misrepresent. I mean, it's true that I wasn't thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn't want to have kids without her. And there were moments on The Place Beyond the Pines where we were pretending to be a family, and I didn't really want it to be pretend anymore. I realized that this would be a life I would be really lucky to have."

Gosling also said he "leans on" Mendes for parenting guidance.

"She knows what's important, always," he continued. "She just somehow knows. So if ever I'm in my head about it, I just ask her."
