Gulf Coast stand-ins, extras needed for Stephen King movie filming in Mobile area

A new Stephen King book adaptation that will begin filming Monday on the Gulf Coast could use 1,000 extras.

According to Gulf Coast Media, filming of “The Life of Chuck” will take about four weeks and take place throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties in Alabama.

According to StephenKing.com, “The Life of Chuck” started as a novella in the 2020 collection, “If it Bleeds.”

Adapted from the novella, the movie is a biography of a 39-year-old man who dies from a brain tumor. The story is told in reverse chronological order, starting with his death.

Local booking agency Barefoot Models and Talent put out a call for extras age 11 years and up. Most of the extras will be used in a scene filming in Baldwin County.

Those who are available weekdays could fill another role in the production. Barefoot Models and Talent also requested stand-ins for the production. Stand-in’ would not end up in the final cut of the film but would work directly with the crew. The job may include makeup or lighting tests or blocking the scene before the actors film. The pay for this production is $125 a day.

Because stand-ins help set up the scene and lighting for specific characters, the demographic requirements for the position are very specific.

According to Barefoot, here’s what the crew of “The Life of Chuck” will need.

Movie stand ins needed

White male - 6’2” (several days)

Black male- 5’10” (several days)

Black male - 6’1”

White female 5’11”

East Indian male (or dark Caucasian) 6’4”

According to Barefoot, all stand-ins are local hires. If you think you fit the bill, email lifeofchuckbg@gmail.com with “stand in” in the subject line. In the email, include your name, age, height, clothing sizes, cell number and the city and state where you reside.

Those interested in being an extra should use the same email address with a subject line, “extra.”
