French Kiss Pastries serves up delicious pastries and more in Edgewater Mall location
BILOXI -- There's a new addition at Edgewater Mall's food court -- French Kiss Pastries, which serves up sweet and delicious pastries.
The selection of beautiful, hand-crafted sweets will blow you away, but there is more.
They serve a variety of coffee, including drip brew, latte, cappuccino, Americano, café au lait, and ice-cold drip coffee too.
If you are in the mood for something a bit more substantial, get a breakfast croissant for $5, with your choice of cheese, egg and ham or bacon.
It is all homemade, and there are soups and side dishes.
Pastry chef and owner Jacque Ladnier is a mostly self-taught master at her craft.
She said she took an evening cake-decorating class some years back, and then friends and family started asking her to make special-occasion cakes for birthdays and weddings.
The new spot at Edgewater, however, Ladnier's first French Kiss. She owns French Kiss in Ocean Springs, her original bakery, and one in Long Beach inside Bankhouse Coffee. All are good, and all adhere to the same principle of excellence.
The first time you visit, you might want to try the monster cinnamon roll ($4), which is big enough to share with a friend.
Walk up to the pastry case, and the fruit tart ($5) will jump out at you. It is beautiful. Along with a coffee ($1.50 to $3), it will make for a wonderful treat.
The best-seller is the Strawberry Bavarian ($5.75) -- once you try this thing of beauty, you are sure to be hooked. There are at least a dozen more pastries that will entice you, such as éclairs, macrons, cheesecake and cannoli. They're priced from $1.50 to $5.
If you are looking for a quick, delicious homemade lunch, French Kiss has got you covered. The soup of the day changes, but the day I stopped by it was tomato bisque and mushroom brie. Yum! Among other recent soups have been chicken Florentine, and broccoli cheese. A cup will set you back just $2.25.
The side dishes also change daily, but the pasta salad and tomato salad ($2.25) I checked out were spot on. Pick a side dish to go along with that homemade chicken salad packed onto a buttered croissant, and you've got a great lunch for just $7.20.
Next time you are cruising the mall, make this a mandatory stop on your itinerary.
