Iconic Coast seafood shack is opening a 2-story eatery with bayou views
Cameron Cuevas and his family have served crawfish across the Coast for three generations. Now, he’s bringing that business to the bayou.
Claw Daddy’s On Da Bayou, a seafood restaurant on Bayou Bernard in Gulfport, will open its doors on July 17. The two-story building features an upstairs restaurant, patio space, a downstairs entertainment area and two bars.
In addition to his family’s signature flavors, Cuevas said guests can expect classic Southern dishes including fried green tomatoes, crawfish pistolettes and alligator po’boys.
He said the swamp-themed restaurant can seat up to 130 customers, with additional seating available at the bar and downstairs, where guests can enjoy live music during opening weekend.
The restaurant is at 1201 Washington Avenue in the former Blow Fly Bar and Grill, a Cajun-steakhouse fusion that closed in May 2026.
Cuevas said the restaurant opening has been a long-time in the making.
“I just walked in this building, and it felt right,” Cuevas said. “I just felt like it was God’s plan.”
The current Claw Daddy’s at 15261 Russell Boulevard in Gulfport will remain in operation, continuing its more than 30-year culinary legacy.
