Fifteen years after Samurai Japanese Cuisine opened on Sangani Boulevard in D’Iberville, the owners are adding a new restaurant down the street.

A sign is posted outside the former IHOP location, next to Courtyard by Marriott and close to the Grand D’Iberville movie theater, letting the community know Fiery Korean BBQ & Hotpot is coming soon.

Crews are putting down tile and transforming a breakfast spot into a trendy Asian restaurant. The owners said they hope to open in the fall.

Samurai, which opened in September 2011, features a full sushi bar hibachi.

This new restaurant will give customers a chance to experience authentic Korean BBQ, known for its flavors. The meat often is marinated, grilled and served with a variety of side dishes, sauces and garnishes for a custom experience. One of the most popular styles is bulgogi, or “fire meat,” made with well seasoned, thinly sliced sirloin, pork belly or tenderloin and cooked over a flame.

A sign for the new Fiery Korean BBQ Restaurant is posted next to the sign for the vacant IHOP restaurant in D’Iberville that closed more than a year ago. The owners of Samurai Japanese Cuisine are opening this second Asian eatery in the city.
