Starbucks, Subway, Dominos in South MS fail most recent restaurant inspections
The Mississippi Health Department requires a restaurant owner or food managers complete a safety course and become certified in food safety practices to protect their customers.
Getting and keeping certified managers has been a problem over the past few years as restaurants continue to see a steady turnover of employees.
Two popular chain restaurants in South Mississippi are the latest to fail their inspections because of no certified manager since March 21:
Starbucks Coffee at 3905 Denny Ave., Pascagoula, was inspected March 26. This was the first permit renewal since the restaurant opened in March 2025. It was cited for:
- No certified manager, a repeat violation
Subway at 1580 Industrial Park Road, Wiggins, in was inspected March 27, for a permit renewal. It also was cited for:
- No certified manager
Dominos Pizza at 11380 Highway 49 in Gulfport, was inspected April 12, for a permit renewal. It was cited for:
- Not displaying its previous inspection grade
Corrected during the inspection were:
- Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized
- Proper eating, tasting, drinking or tobacco use
During March, the health department inspectors issued 15 Cs for critical violations at South Mississippi restaurants, 61 Bs when any violations were corrected during the inspection and 260 As when the restaurant or food facility had no violations.
