Construction finally is underway on two new restaurants on Bienville Boulevard in Ocean Springs and it’s whetting appetites for Chick-fil-A and Chipotle.
Plans for the two popular eateries were announced in June 2024. Originally Chipotle Mexican Grill was expected to be built first on the west side of the new driveway and Chick-fil-A would follow about six months later on the east side.
Instead, the owners of both restaurants received their building permits from the city in September and both started work soon after the new driveway through the property was paved. Crews now are preparing the sites and doing foundation work.
The property is the site of the former Twin Pines motel on U.S. 90, just east of the Ocean Springs hospital.
Here’s what’s coming
The larger of the two restaurants, the 4,852 square foot Chick-fil-A with a drive-thru window, is owned by KD Springs LLC of Mobile.
The building permit says contractor W.H. Bass of Johns Creek, Georgia will build the Chick-fil-A at a cost of $3.8 million. The contractor has a “readiness date” of Feb. 13, 2026 and a turnover date of March 6.
Chipotle Mexican Grill will be 2,329 square feet with a digital pickup window for orders placed ahead with the restaurant app. The building permit was issued for the shell only, which will be built for $1.02 million. The interior build out of the restaurant will be done by a separate permit.
The owner is Glenwood Arguelles of Ocean Springs and the contractor is Horizon Construction, Alpharetta, Georgia.
More to come
Those who work and live in Ocean Springs have to drive to other Coast cities to get Chick-fil-A and Chipotle. It’s possible they could have more restaurant options on the way.
Two additional sites behind the restaurants are being marketed to bring more restaurants or other businesses to that location. The new driveway connects from U.S. 90 to Groveland Road for access from north and south.
In addition to all the housing developments in that area of Ocean Springs, the restaurants are directly east of the new Singing River Training Academy and close to the hospital and medical offices.
Work is beginning to widen that busy portion of U.S. 90 from four to six lanes, stretching from downtown Ocean Springs to Gautier. A bike and walking trail connecting the cities is part of that project, so people could pedal or walk to the new restaurants to get their chicken nuggets and burritos once all the construction is complete.
