New restaurant with chill drinks and water views opening in South MS

Hollywood Casino Gulf Coast is making the most of its waterfront by opening its new dining deck, bar and marina to those who drive to the resort in Bay St. Louis or arrive by boat.

Hancock County Chamber will host the ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, and then Hollydeck Bar & Marina will open to the public.

The new attraction will blend live entertainment, drinks and dining along the waterfront, where boat owners can rent a slip or just tie up for free for a few hours while they eat, admire the views and even play awhile at the casino.

“We added a 200-foot day pier just for that,” said Kyle Widdows, vice president of marketing for Hollywood Gulf Coast. The space for this new area was underutilized before this transformation that provides guests with a nice breeze and sun shades over the top, he said.

The menu of light bites offers a Gulf Coast taste of savory beignets filled with blue crabmeat and served with a tangy remoulade sauce. Or try foods from regions far from the Coat by ordering Baja shrimp cocktail served with crispy tortilla chips, St. Augustine wings or Tijuana tacos.

A surprise on the menu is their New England-style firecracker shrimp roll with yum yum sauce in the traditional top split bun.

The drink menu is like a tropical vacation in a glass, where frozen bushwackers, strawberry daiquiris and pina coladas are served at the indoor and outdoor bars. Customers can be adventurous with a Hollydeck bloody Mary or the blood orange jalapeño Margarita, or go classic with refreshing seltzers or building a bucket of beers.

Live entertainment is each Saturday from 4-8 p.m.

For this opening weekend Quiksilvr will play from 5-7 p.m. Thursday and 4-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
