P.S. Taco in Gulfport has opening date and a menu of food and drinks under $15

A new taco spot with a big following is opening its first franchise in Mississippi, bringing bold flavors, fresh ingredients and chill drinks to The Crossroads in Gulfport.

P.S. Taco opens May 7 at 15258 Crossroads Parkway and will be open daily for lunch and dinner. It’s the sixth restaurant in the franchise, joining locations in the Mobile area and Orlando, Florida.

The Gulfport restaurant was announced a year ago and people are eagerly knocking on the door, said owner Hunter Mason.

“They’re ready,” he said.

He and his business partner Alec Weinacker are creating something worth the wait.

Spicy food and icy drinks

“Our tacos are different than just your average taco spot,” Mason said. The menu lists 14 specialty tacos, served in a choice of corn, flour or hardshell tortilla, or a lettuce wrap.

The Belly of the Beast, which is made with pork belly, grilled shrimp and mango salsa; along with the Backwards Hawaiian, with a tangy pineapple barbecue sauce, are two of the favorites.

“They’re super delicious,” Mason said.

Also on the menu are beef, fish, buffalo chicken and vegetarian tacos that can be made into a platter with sides of Mexican corn or black beans.

“We’re real famous for the fries,” he said, as any taco can be made into a loaded fry.

Additionally, house-made chips and salsa are delivered free to every dining guest.

Making it fresh

All ingredients are fresh and the platters, salads and everything on the food and drinks menu are priced at $15 or less.

Paul Smith, Russell Perkins and Tiffany Perkins founded P.S. Taco Company after spending a decade sampling tacos from Mexico, Spain, Southern California, Texas and the Gulf Coast. They’ve combined their favorites into food and drink menus that give customers lots of choices.

The menu offers something for taco purists and more adventurous eaters, along with a cool selection of margaritas, tequila shots, beer and popular liquors.

P.S. Taco will open for lunch and dinner on May 7. Hours are 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.
