Miss Krispy Kreme in Ocean Springs? A new craft-donut restaurant is taking its place
It’s been a year since Krispy Kreme closed on U.S. 90 in Ocean Springs, and for those craving a fresh doughnut, a new place is on the way.
Southeast Commercial Real Estate represented a franchisee from Florida who wanted to bring a Parlor Doughnuts shop to South Mississippi, said Monte Luffey, a principal at Southeast Commercial. An investor had purchased the building at 1419 Bienville Blvd. in Ocean Springs from the former Krispy Kreme owner. Southeast convinced him to do an off-market transaction and sell the building to a franchisee to open the first Parlor Doughnuts in Mississippi.
Parlor Doughnuts is a craft doughnut and coffee shop that specializes in layered doughnuts, “made with layers of buttery dough fried to be crisp on the outside and light/fluffy on the inside,” according to the website.
Small batches are made fresh throughout the day and doughnuts are made to order with a choice of toppings.
Among the more than 20 flavors of doughnuts are French toast, maple bacon, cookies ‘n’ cream, peanut butter cup, bourbon caramel, turtle cheesecake, coconut cream filled, strawberry shortcake and seasonal selections. They also have a doggie doughnut for the pups.
The shops, which were founded in 2019 in Indiana, can now be found across the country. They also feature vegan, gluten-friendly and keto-friendly products along with specialty coffees.
For those who want a savory breakfast with their doughnut, the shop has acai bowls, avocado toast and breakfast sandwiches and tacos on the menu.
A rewards program is in place for regular customers and call ahead and delivery options will be available.
