A great steak at a great price is concept of rebranded restaurant on Mississippi Coast
The Blind Tiger Butcher Shop and Deli has been transformed and rebranded into a steakhouse with specially priced steaks to make dinner tasty and more affordable.
Butcher Block Steak House and Bar, at 126 Blaize Ave. in the trendy Depot District of Bay St. Louis, now is focused on serving high-quality meat and steak specials, plus an expanded menu, said owner Thomas Genin.
Their steak specials put the price of an 8-ounce filet mignon or a 12-ounce ribeye steak at $19.99. A 12-ounce Prime New York strip steak is specially priced at $24.99.
The change in direction from a deli to a steakhouse comes in response to their customers’ cravings.
“We realized that the demand for great steak at an affordable price was stronger than we could have imagined,” said managing partner and general manager Scott Sutherland. “Our goal has always been to provide an exceptional dining experience without breaking the bank. With Butcher Block, we are able to bring that vision to life in a big way.”
The new concept builds on the butcher shop’s daily steak specials, and if locals or visitors don’t see what they crave on the menu, they can choose a meat from the display case and the chef will cook it to order.
The expanded menu starts with fun, shareable appetizers like cowboy smoked pork ribs, Spanish garlic shrimp, Gulf blue crab fingers with homemade remoulade and pepper glazed lamb lollipops.
Shrimp remoulade is one of several salads and on the list of sides are grilled asparagus and mac and cheese of the day.
The low-priced steaks can be made into surf and turf with add-ons of skewered shrimp, grilled scallops and lobster tail. Local favorites on the menu are redfish etouffee and homemade meatballs with spaghetti.
The current deli items are still available, along with their famous smash burger, made from a blend of brisket, strip, filet and ribeye trimmings with toppings and their own zesty sauce on a Leidenheimer bun.
Also part of the restaurant is The Backyard Beer Garden and its 24 beers on tap, big-screen TV, off-street golf cart parking, sandbox for kids, dog play area, yard games and private-party space.
