MS Coast Dairy Queen and Krystal among restaurants, kitchens to fail health inspections
South Mississippi’s showpiece baseball stadium is among the kitchens that was found not ready for prime time after failing its latest health inspection.
Three food prep areas at Keesler Federal Park, formerly MGM Park, on Caillavet Street at U.S. 90 in Biloxi, had scheduled inspections Tuesday, Feb. 25. All were cited for the same violation:
▪ Hot and cold water not available at adequate pressure.
This was the first C at Ovation Prep Kitchen dating back to the opening of the stadium in 2015. It was the second C at Main Concession 1B and the third C at Main Concession 3B over the 10 years the stadium has been open and serving hot dogs and other meals and snacks.
Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at 10634 Automall Parkway, D’Iberville was inspected Feb. 18 for a permit renewal. It was cited for:
▪ Improper cold holding temperatures
Corrected during the inspection were:
▪ Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized
▪ Toxic substance properly identified, stored and used
The only other inspection listed under this business name was an A in January 2024.
Krystal Restaurants, 2603 Denny Ave., Pascagoula was inspected Feb. 20 for a permit renewal. It was cited for:
▪ No person in charge present who demonstrates knowledge and performs duty.
This was the first C dating back to 2011.
Restaurants and kitchens in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if all violations are corrected during the inspection and “C” if the violations are critical.
Since Feb. 13, Mississippi Health Department reports 137 restaurants and kitchens in South Mississippi passed their inspection with an A and 15 with a B.
The health inspection grade must be displayed in all restaurants, in kitchens such as school cafeterias, day care centers, and cafes and bars where food is sold.
