Four South MS restaurants fail health inspections. One was for insects, rodents or animals

Four restaurants failed their restaurant inspections in the final days of January, putting the total to 13 restaurants cited for critical violations since the start the year.

In comparison, nine restaurants scored a failing C grade in December and a year ago, seven restaurants failed their restaurant inspection in January 2023.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection and “C” if the violations are critical.

The vast majority of restaurants passed their January inspection with an A. The health department gave 255 kitchens an A and 48 a B.

These are the most recent restaurants cited:

Wendy’s, 9373 Canal Road, Gulfport, was inspected Jan. 25 for a permit renewal. It was cited for:

Insects, rodents or animals present

Corrected during the inspection were:

Sewage wastewater properly disposed

During a follow-up inspection the same day, the violation was corrected and the restaurant was given a B.

This was the only C dating back to 2014.

Sonic at 15025 Creosote Road, Gulfport, was inspected Jan. 29 and was cited for:

Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible

Corrected during the inspection were:

Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized

Proper hot holding temperatures

This was the second C dating back to 2018.

Little Caesars, 19010 Pineville Road, Long Beach, was inspected Jan. 24 for a permit renewal. It was cited for:

No certified manager, a repeat violation

This was the third C since February 2023, all for the same violation.

Quickly at 11516 Lamey Bridge Road, D’Iberville, had a scheduled inspection Jan. 30. It was cited for:

Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat violation.

A corrective follow-up inspection on Jan. 31 showed the violation was corrected and the restaurant was given a B score.

This was the second C since 2021 and the fourth dating back to 2015.
