New Ocean Springs restaurant blends Atlantic City Italian food with Coast hospitality

The new Italy Terrace restaurant features an Atlantic City rather than a Philly cheesesteak and the owners have plans to add fine Italian cuisine this summer.

The restaurant at Gulf Hills Golf Course, 13700 Paso Road in Ocean Springs, is in phase I of its plans to blend Italian-American food from Atlantic City with Southern Hospitality.

It’s adjacent to the Capones Speakeasy bar, overlooking the nine-hole golf course and directly across from Gulf Hills Hotel & Resort.

Paul Cutler moved south eight years ago and he and his sister Colleen Cutler opened Italy Terrace in December with a menu of subs, wraps, salads and sides.

This summer his nephew Damian Marraffa will move from the restaurant of the same name in Atlantic City to South Mississippi and add dishes from Northern Italy in the evening.

His wife Naria Mercado will open the Morning Cafe at the restaurant.

Until then, the phase I menu available now brings tastes of the Jersey shore to the Coast. Lunch is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. A pastry and coffee bar provides a pick-me-up for golfers and Cutler said they have plans to update the decor over time.

The Italian sub is authentic Atlantic City Italian style with capicola, salami, martadella and provolone. Among the other subs are turkey, roast beef, ham and a mixed cheese and and antipasto salad, chef salad or Caesar salad are some of the other choices.

Loaded potato soup is one of the choices that are good for warming a chilly day and a basket of fried sides add onion rings, fries, mushrooms or mozzarella sticks to a sub or wrap.
