6 more South MS kitchens fail inspections, one with bugs, rodents or animals present

With another week to go in October, 17 restaurants and kitchens in South Mississippi have failed their health inspection with critical violations.

That compares to eight with a failing C grade for all of September, 15 in August and 10 in July.

The vast majority of restaurants inspected so far this month had no violations, with 196 scoring an A. Another 27 kitchens scored a B when violations were corrected during the inspection.

The latest to get a C are:

McDonald’s, 11167 Lorraine Rd., Gulfport, had a scheduled inspection Oct. 18. It was cited for:

Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat violation

Last inspection report not posted

Corrected during the inspection was: Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized.

This is the restaurant’s first C dating back to 2007

IP Casino Torch Bar, 850 Bayview Ave., Biloxi, was inspected Oct. 12 for a permit renewal. It was cited for: Food contact surface not cleaned and sanitized, a repeat violation.

IP Casino Quench Bar also was inspected Oct. 12 for a permit renewal. It was cited for: Inadequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible, a repeat violation

This is the second C dating back to 2012 for both kitchens.

Burger King, 699 US 90, Bay St. Louis, had a scheduled inspection Oct. 18.

It was cited for: Insects, rodents or animals present.

Corrected during the inspection was: Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized

This is the third C since 2017

Keith’s Superstore, 102 East Beach Blvd., Pass Christian, had a follow-up inspection Oct. 17 and still had a critical violation for not having its last inspection report posted.

Corrected during the inspection was: Food contact surface cleaned and sanitized, for which the kitchen got a C on Oct. 3.

The two Cs in October are the only Cs dating back to 2014.

Dunkin Donuts, 913 Cedar Lake Road., Biloxi, was inspected Oct. 20 for a permit renewal. It was cited for no certified manager.

Corrected during the inspection were:

Hands clean and properly washed

Adequate hand washing facilities supplied and accessible

Toxic substance properly identified, stored and used

This was the first C dating back to 2017.

Restaurants and other food service establishments in Mississippi are rated “A” if they pass the health department inspection, “B” if violations are corrected during the inspection, and “C” if the violations are critical.
