Get a high-end seafood lunch for under $15 at this hidden Biloxi beach restaurant

The cafe sits largely idle on Thankful Thursday. It’s just before noon, the rush isn’t expected for another hour or so.

This restaurant shares a space with the gift shop in the middle of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art campus, tucked under the moss-ladened branches hanging from the myriad of live oaks squeezing the property.

This isn’t where you’d expect to find fine dining. Even the cafe tables are on wheels. But that’s exactly what Chef Joshua Mitchell does at Trinity Cafe in Biloxi.

From the kitchen door behind the inconspicuous cafe bar comes dishes that you’d typically only see served at a dinner reservation from a high-end restaurant.

Red fish amandine, a pineapple bowl filled with shrimp and rice and a broiled salmon pasta are what highlight the menu here.

All prepared by a Biloxi-native chef who spent a decade training at the Magnolia House under celebrity chef Kelly English.

Tranquil is the only way to describe the setting. Surrounded by ceramic art and with a view of the Mississippi Sound stretching out beyond the tall windows, the pasta topped with shrimp, salmon and shrimp cream sauce is delivered.

I thought there wasn’t much more that could impress me about the unassuming establishment. But as I dug into the perfectly cooked salmon, Chef Joshua took a seat at a piano in a nearby corner and began playing.

His work on the keys was every bit as good as his work on the cream sauce that doused the bow tie noodles on my plate.

My coke-in-a-wine-glass suddenly felt even fancier.

This meal was only $14. It was actually less than that, because on Thankful Thursday the cafe offers a 10% discount.

Trinity Cafe by Chef Joshua is unlike any other place on the Mississippi Coast. You won’t find the food or scene replicated anywhere else. In a way, the museum is the perfect location for Mitchell’s food, which is in itself art.

Mitchell brings his dinner menu to the nearby yacht club in the evenings and even caters a couple of times a week.

For something unique, affordable and genuinely splendid, Trinity Cafe will not disappoint.
